Changes Coming With Added Blogs, More Reliable RSS Feed, And Twitter

The past week I have been adding some blogs I found through my attendance at MinneBar. From those blogs I found more and will be adding them soon.

I have made a switch to Garrick Van Buren’s Cullect.com, a new RSS Feed aggregator. Well, it’s more than that but anyway I like that he built it the way a user would want it to be. (A disclaimer, I am a paying subscriber, very happy customer, and not getting anything for saying so.)

Other new things:

-@twincitiesblogs for Twitter and thinking about to incorporate it into the site, maybe taking a Widget, putting it in the left column, and that takes the place of my “news” and “updates” I would post here.

-Likely combine one feed of blogs to this page.

-Add local blogger news to the left column with links to blogger posts rather than writing the news here as I had planned.

While the intent of this site is to make it easier for me to aggregate my reading if you have an idea how I can make this a site you would want to come back to, send me an email paul@mnheadhunter.com

Introducing TwinCitiesBlogs.com

I know what you are thinking, why a blog aggregator for blogs in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul?

First, my personal opinion is no one is really promoting the blogs, those that write them, or the stories behind the blogs. I hope to do some of that.

Second, my blog roll on MN Headhunter is getting kind of long which is a good thing but it only gives links.

Third, the twincitiesblogs aggregator I had been using on the FeedRaider platform did not do exactly what I wanted. It is slow to load and I could not create a list of the blogs on the side. Nor could I make it pleasing to the eye. OK, it may be possible but not for me. I do prefer the “deck” version though over the river as I like being able to see what I have missed.

Fourth, so I went back to my TypePad roots and created TwinCitiesBlogs.com as a blog to serve as the aggregator. I hope that makes sense. This way I can monitor what is going on and have some news on this main page.

Why the categories of Business, Career and Recruiter, Political, Sports, and Technology? Simple, for the most part that’s what I read. Sure there are some personal or entertainment blogs I read but not enough of them to create a page of their own. Not yet anyway.

For the moment that is why this was started and next time I will fill you in on what I plan on doing with this site.

Between now and then, if you know of a blog that is updated at least once a week and fits into one of the listed categories send me as much information as you can including URL, RSS Feed, author name and email address.
